With Herod Agrippa 1 threatening the life of the Apostle Peter we find that Peter was sleeping in jail when an angel came to help him escape. Peter was so confident in what Jesus told him would happen he knew he wasn't going to die at this point in his life? Do you find rest in what God has revealed through His Word? The church was praying for Peter's release and couldn't believe it when he showed up at their door. Do you believe in the power of prayer? The majority of us don't ever want to think or talk about the reality of death and all of it's implications. Truth be told we live in denial of the fact that at some point we will die. The beauty of the Gospel is that our biggest enemy, death, died the day that Jesus Christ rose up from the grave! We have a guarantee in Jesus Christ that if we trust what he did on the cross was for you and me then we have nothing to fear in death. Why did it take 10 years for the gospel to reach the Gentiles and begin to spread throughout the world? God was laying the foundation of apostalic authority as well as preparing the disciples to do what He was calling them to do.
